In Services, I could see SQL server's services running and alos my application's services running, but once I open SQL Management Studio, it stops my application's services (both server and client services). What could be the possible cause for this.

Check Event Viewer to see why the services stopped. I've never heard of SSMS stopping other processes though. What service pack are you running on the client side?

I'm using SP 2 for SQL 2005 and for Windows its SP1. Once the SSMS is opened In event viewer, I get a message that
"<Application name> Client Broker Service stopped." "<Application name> Server Broker Service stopped.".

Also sometimes I get a message "The report server database is an invalid version. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

Does it happen every time you open SSMS?

Try reproducing the issue on another client machine, if possible. Otherwise, I think you are going to need to contact Microsoft directly or rebuild that machine.
