| hi friends,while trying to restore my database full backup (90 GB) its taking forever without any progress in the progress pane "SQL Server is currently in the process of restoring the backup set" untill i cancel myselfwhile this procedure took me 2 hours only b4what could be wrong? |

| Hi,Just restart the service and try to restore.services can be restarted by Run --> services.msc --> choose servicename and click on restart --> and now try to restorethe above error may be because someone is using ur server-instance while you are trying to restore.. |

Raky, This is really bad suggestion.You don't restart services as it might damage the integrity of database if you do in middle of operation(Rollback). Also How does someone using server-instances affect restore? Backup only contains the used portion of databases. You database might be 120-150 GB. So it will take time to restore. Also if you had put STAT option ,you would have known percentages of restore. Did you restore in REcovery option or Non-Recovery option? |

| yes it started to progress after like 4 hours and took abt 10 hours to finish it is in the non recovery option. i don't know why it took this much time although before it was much faster.thank you |

You should choose Recovery option to bring database online. |
