Hello dear developers,

I came to a point where SQL Server 5 has been passed under my maintenance, however I have got no knowledge at all how to control it. I am totaly newbie in this field as i do code PHP, ASP, JSP, ActionScript etc.. but NO server administration skills. ZERO.

Please help me with following issue and it wouldbe VERY helpful if you could guid my step by step.

Company runs online shop and this morning i did get folowing message on browser:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The log file for database '12345' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space.

After some research I found that i should backup/truncate transaction file for '12345'. I don't want to mess around too much as I am afraid of loosing data or corrupting server.

please advise!!!

Perhaps if you took those 20 seconds and did a forum search for your problem, which was how to back up the transaction log, you would have found your answer.

Did someone tell you to truncate the transaction log? I hope not.

We'll miss you. Not.

Just in case you're still around, here's a primer on managing transaction logs.[url]http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/64582/[/url]

I find it hilarious that he complains about lack of a response just 20 minutes after creating the topic.
