I have a Microsoft contract interview on Thursday and I know they will be asking me whiteboard ad-hoc SQL query questions. I tend to kind of freeze up in these situations. I was wondering if anyone has strategies/processes they use to divide and conquer complex select query statements? I think that if I had more of a structured process in my mind it would be a whole lot easier to keep things straight. I already have the basics such as understanding of row and group filtering, joins, et al.

Thanks,
Sean

your strategy should be : DON"T FREEZE UP! You can have SQL Querying chip embedded in you but if you freeze up what is the use!?!?
Just go to a Book Store or if you already have a book hit the books that is all there is to it. And of course you have to imagine real worl scenarios.
With you best!
