select RefUploader.dbo.WhichTimeClass('vly233',a.CallDate) from LYC_RES.month02.dbo.Fngn_xcds a,
RefUploader..r_prefix_intest b
where a.trunkout=b.prefixcode
and b.tgroup ='vly233'

the input Vly233 is in RefUploader..r_prefix_intest

when we do eui join a.trunkout=b.prefixcode

then only we will get Vly233(tggroup is column name in RefUploader..r_prefix_intest)

if its a scalar function, you can use like this

select RefUploader.dbo.WhichTimeClass(b.tggroup,a.CallDate) from LYC_RES.month02.dbo.Fngn_xcds a,
RefUploader..r_prefix_intest b
where a.trunkout=b.prefixcode
