But we use a job logging system calle dmy helpdesk which ties in , anyone we have 10 support guys , and we have different sections tickets , and people , i dunno if its some kind of script or numbers , i could add them n stuff but is there some kind of command that does it for you , would be really helpful.

thanks for any help.

Your description is really vague. I am not sure if anyone over here will be able to help you outt unless you post specifics. I'd think its your team members and you Boss who can only help you out right now ..

The sad part is making you admin but seemingly providing no directions. If they are willing to allow you to grow into the position - great, but you'd better learn to ask for guidance and training. Forums are great if you can explain what you're trying to do, show some examples of your data, both input and expected results, show your table layout and your attempt at code to accomplish your task. We DO NOT do homework here. 18 and working for an IT firm?? Call me cynical but it smells like a student to me.....

edit: Just noted "my SQL" - this forum is for MS SQL server. You may wnat to subscribe to an appropriate forum, somewhere like: http://www.dbforums.com/index.php which has a MY SQL forum...

"know what i mean fs" - Nope (don't know what the quote means either. is that an insult??). What is it that you are attempting to do? What do your tables look like? Is it truly mysql or SQL server (there is a difference!)? If mysql, go to the link that was provided for more appropriate help.

"i done a back up log of the helpdesk and imported it so it's like a dummy system" - A full backup then a log backup and then a restore?? Is that what you mean by an import?

"im not a novice" - not so sure about that....

"and no doubt it will come" - I hope so.

This is not an attempt to get you upset. If you've come for help, state what it is that you're trying to do, show you attempt at it as well as some sample data and we can try to help.

Ok. I'm sorry just a little uptight about this.

Ok , we have a server were sql runs from , i backed the whole data onto a notepad , then imported it onto my machine.

I done the backup by clicking backup , new project and moved the part over to backup content , then executed the backup , now i have it on my sql dummy on my pc.

The system we use is a job logging system , like say the supporter is Me, my name is Tony , so it comes up Tony on the system , i wanna go and like get all my jobs for that week , and maybe put an announcment on to say this is what's what.

so say i have 300 jobs that week , is there some way , like for example on an spreadsheet , you can filter your name and it will show you what you've done.

Sorry for being snappy , thanks for any help.

Tony

Tony, can you provide the table format and some sample data? It doesn't sound overly complex and with the info, we should be able to come up with something fairly quickly....

Select * from helpdesk where contact_name like 'John%' will pull all records where contact name begins with "John". You can then filter on date (either date_created or date_modified, as long as it's a datetime field) where date_file >= '20090323' and date_field <= '20090330' to get a weeks worth of data. Is this getting closer to what you want to do?

No need to get nasty folks.

Godspeedba, newbies have to start somehwere, correct? You either were or are in the same situation (I know I am/was).

And tony, being crude in your response will either get you banned, or at the very least, no help. Those providing help (freely!) have a low tolerance for disrepect. If you have additional issues with repect to your OP, please let us know what issues you're facing.
