what kind of sql server you are using? 32bit or 64bit?

if its 32 then use Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0
it can directly import excel files into tables
import data into temp table and then decide what needs to be updated what to be deleted and what to be inserted

there are no jet drivers for 64bit server

also you can save excel file as text comma or tab separated and then bulk insert it
