How great would that be for writing queries, views, etc? I'm actually surprised it's not available... |

| It's available in the SQL Server 2008 Management Studio.I actually hate it, it always "senses" the wrong thing for me. |

| Oh wow. Does it not give you a drop down of possible/probable matches like Visual Studio does? |

| There are products e.g. http://www.red-gate.com/Products/SQL_Prompt/index.htmAs sql server 2008:Tools, options, Text editor, Transact SQL, Intellisense -- disableTara will probably like it but anyone who types while looking at their fingers.....==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

Well yes - then you hit space or . and it takes one of them. If you name derived tables like a and t it's a real painselect tempdb.*from sysobjects t==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

| Cool. Yeah, I assumed it worked the same as in VS. I rarely derive tables so it seems like it would be useful for me. |

| select IDENT_CURRENT from sysobjectsI wanted select idfrom sysobjectsAlso it has a habit of converting keywords to upper case whereas all keywords should be in lower case (anyone who disagrees is mistaken!).==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

From what someone described (Anders maybe?) one of the reasons they made LINQ work backwards from regular SQL is so it would be easier to support Intellisense. Having used it in SQL 2008 I can see their point.Anything to keep developers from learning the database I suppose... |
