Hello,
I am working my content manager and trying to figure out how to go about setting up a query to search for related content. Is it possible to do this without using fulltext?

Maybe. It depends on what you mean by "related content".

I think you refer to "tagging". You can type, or tag, an article with one or more tags.
A tag can be "political", "economic", "personal" etc.

So basically when you display an article you know which tags are stored for the current article, and then you just search for other articles with same tags.
