Hey guys 1st time poster here, I have googled the heck out of this and have come up with tons of checklists but nothing on a step by step put in CD, click OK click next type instructions. Anyone know of any? Thanks in advance. |

That's nice. It makes things like the components to install page fun to figure out. Admittedly I'm an SQL newb. Our SQL guy left, they never replaced him and I get to learn it all. Do I choose SQL Server Database Services and then create a SQl server failover cluster below it even though we already have one? Why create another? Should it say upgrade an existing sql server failover cluster. Also choose workstation components books online and dev tools? All the stuff in between? On the next page it talks instances, I can't see my instance when i look at installed instances it shows SQL Server instead. Then on the page that says existing components it has the checkbox for SQL Server Database services but it's greyed out. When I did a single server upgrade that was available.I just don't feel comfortable with this upgrade of a cluster and find it hard to believe there isn't instructions. The checklists don't seem to be a help either unless you are very skilled in SQL already. Perhaps I will just seek out a vendor. Thanks anyway |

you choose upgrade an existing cluster, choose all the workstation components, BOL, and yes stuff in between (usually).. it should detect your instances..if this is a prod server you are upgrading perhaps you need to get some help.. if its a dev cluster, you can take an image of both nodes and then play around with the upgrades.. each time you can just restore the images if you messed up...Dinakar Nethi************************Life is short.
