Hello, I installed Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express and can access sql server 2005 on remote host (internet), see tables, etc. But I dind`t find any option to make a full backup of the database.
Do you know if SQL MS Express can make such full backups?

Thank you!

BACKUP DATABASE command is what you want.

hi tkizer!
I forgot to mention I have no access to the server machine,
but only to the sql server from my Management Studio Express.
So, I can to create a disk backup, but has no way to access this
backup file on the disk.

So, what I really need is to retrieve the backup via Management Studio Express. Is it possible?

Thank you.

You can use the BACKUP DATABASE command to backup to a network resource. It does not have to be to the local disk of the database server. So path in a full UNC path to the command where you have access to the file.

This network resource you said, can be a remote ftp, or only win share?
Please, can you post a command example? I don`t know another destination definition than TO DISK.

It can't be an FTP site as far as I know.
