as i know tempdb grow when some event occur like:
- Sorting,
- Unions, join,
- leftover transaction,
- temp table.

I wish to know is there any hidden event that help grow tempdb...

Good reading material if you can't sleep at night. But then again it might keep you awake all night thinking about your tempdb

Erm...ok now i understood that tempdb grow everytime many user logged in and used nasty select statement...is there anyway to shrink the tempdb to its original size without closing sql server 2005?
