| THE two contradict each other. When the word LEFT is used meaning LEFT OUTER join it indicates that all existing values in the left set should be returned even if they don't exist in the right set.INNER JOIN also know as an equi-join indicates that only items existing in the right and left set should be returned. So a LEFT INNER JOIN would be like saying "Give me all things that match in both right and left sets and all the ones that are in the left set".
