im a sql developer working on relational database. i have been tasked with taking over work on our cube. Know very little about analysis service so looking for an appropriate course. We currently running SQL 2005, and will do for the foreseeable future. i can get a local training course on 2008, but would have to travel a few hundred miles for a 2005 one. my question is would the 2008 be sufficient to breaking into this topic

(Course: Implementing and Maintaining Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Service)

It would, the main difference between 2005 and 2008 are the heirachy and attributes for dimensions.

If the company is willing to pay for you to go on a training course though and you are going to be using 2005, i'd probably go for the 2005 course, it is then easy to port up to 2008 when you finally start using it.

In the msdn online documentation for SQL Server 2008, there are some videos you can view and download, that go through creating an SSAS project, some basic maintenance, and deploying.
