I tried to install SQL Server 2008 on my local machine (Win 7). This is what I see installed?Sql Server 2008 (no size)BrowserNative ClientR2 Data Tier app frameworkR2 Data Tier app projectmanagement objctsR2 T-SQL Language ServiceSetup support filesCompact 3.5 SP2 ENUDatabase Publishing Wizard 1.4System CLR TpesVSS WriterYet..how do I access SQL Server? And when I tried to run one of the three SQL Server apps under Start, like the Import Wizard, I get SQL Server Express. The only apps I have under SQL Server are Configuration Tools and the like. How do I get to SQL Server itself?

So, the Timing Gods decreed that the Sql server install would run OK as soon as I posted this msg. BUT, where do I get the tools from? Query analyzer, etc.?

Well, the drama continues. I did download the Management Studio but was informed that I had to install SP1. So, I downloaded SP1 and unpacked it. Then I ran the configuration utility which seemed to work OK until I got to Select Features. SQLEXPRESS, SQLSERTEST (My instance) and shared features all are checked (but greyed). The Upgrade Status says Intalled. When I click next, I am informed there is nothing to update (makes sense, upgrade status says installed). But when I try to run the Management Studio install, now I get "Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called until the window handle has been created..." I feel like I'm going in circles.

When I again tried to run SP1, I get "There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer."
