What part of a query slows down the actual query. Is it the Select / update / delete part or would it be the where clause(s).

Sorry for such a stupid question, however i just wanted to know.

It's a too general question to ask.
SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE have different uses and cannot be compared.

A general answer is "lack of proper index".
