Hi, I am just starting to learn SQL and was wondering what the group thought of SAS in comparison to SQL? Reason I am asking is because a job recruiter recently told me that SAS is highly valuable. Thanks!

Your question is a little unclear as you need SQL in order to use SAS.

Here's what I can tell you though:

There is a lot more of business intelligence jobs than there are for DBA jobs.

I hate BI stuff.

SAS meaning what?

Software As a Service? (often abbreviated SasS)
SQL Server Analysis Services (more commonly SSAS)?
Something else?

Sorry you're right, I wasn't really clear. I was referring to http://www.sas.com/

I'm basically trying to form a new career path. I was a Data Analyst at a financial firm for a few years but only used basic Excel. Most analyst jobs want SQL/Access experience, but a recruiter I was talking too mentioned SAS as being highly valuable.

I'm currently using lynda.com to learn SQL.

Oh I assumed SSAS for my reply.

We can't really help you decide between SQL and SAS as we don't have experience with SAS. It's apples and oranges.
