depending on complexity of view and amount of data in underlying objects the performance can affect. Indexed views will be providing good performance but decision on whether to go for it depends on how frequently you want details to be fetched,etc------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SQL Server MVPhttp://visakhm.blogspot.com/

Personally I would advice against it. Not for performance reasons but for reasons of manageability. I think it's harder to maintain a good overview of the database objects when there are a lot of views... One of the main problems is that after a while it will be easier to just create a new view instead of modifying old ones because you don't know what is being used where, and you will have views all over the place. But this is just my personal preference...others might feel differently.- LumbagoMy blog-> http://thefirstsql.com/2011/07/08/how-to-find-gaps-in-identity-columns-at-the-speed-of-light/

thats a very valid point. Quite a few occasions we've had experiences of inheriting systems having nested views up to multiple levels and it aould really take some amount of effort from person before he understands whole flow of data and nesting between views.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SQL Server MVPhttp://visakhm.blogspot.com/
