| Hello All,I understand that the "BUILTIN\Administrator' group (in 2000 & 2005) gives members sysadmin access to SQL server. In my new role I have to access/gather database info on sql 2000 (as we're preparing to recommend migration). Policies require me to request AD access as administrator on the server, and i has been granted.BUT, when I try to login onto the sql server instances I simply get 'login failed' (windows authentication).Is there any other way to login? is there an easy way to find the operator of the sql server? (to request access).I'm really not sure that there is anything that can be done (besides getting access from that other dba) ...any ideas??Thanks in advance for any comments!!- lec |

| Yeah, I was afraid of that! otherwise sql wouldn't be at all secure, right?The thing is i can't identify the dba from the admin group names (it's a pretty big/global network), the name standards were not implemented on these old servers. | Believe I've tried the get info from the team that granted access...they really don't know nor care to learn about it (I really meant global as global can be!)any chance for tips or hints on the hacks (even in a more private chat?)Thanks!!- lec |
