Are there any popular sites to purchase SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition (other than Microsoft's own site)? Reportedly, it can be purchased for less than USD 59. Is it possible to use a new Developer Edition key on a trial installation of Microsoft SQL Server? |

No, no and no. Developer Edition is not allowed for any other purpose then development. You can use Express Edition, which is free, for your web need. Microsoft SQL Server MVP, MCT, MCSE, MCSA, MCP, MCITP, MCTS, MCDBA |

I just found out that companies like Amazon and CDW do sell developer editions of SQL Server, including 2014. CDW version is purchased via download. So the answer to the first question is "Yes".The second question -- SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition license key can be purchased separately. If applied to a trial download of SQL Server, it renders that installation as a Developer Edition. The third "No" seems to be an answer to a non-existent question. The additional holier-than-thou commentary about licensing was not asked for either. quote: Originally posted by SwePeso No, no and no. Nor is a sarcastic comment about someone genuinely trying to answer your question, which was vague enough to suggest you were asking how to use Developer Edition for non-development purposes. |

This is another pompous presumption that the question is vague or is suggestive of Developer Edition to be used for non-development purposes. Then you probably should not have written the sentence quote: Is it possible to use a new Developer Edition key on a trial installation of Microsoft SQL Server?
which suggests you are trying to break the license rules. What other reason can there be for a question like that? Why buy a license for $59 for a developer edition, and try to use the license key on a trial edition? Microsoft SQL Server MVP, MCT, MCSE, MCSA, MCP, MCITP, MCTS, MCDBA |

I heard it's already out of stock in the Microsoft store. |
