Hi,
We are using SQL server 2000 on a Windows 2003 server SP2. Our client PCs use Symantec Endpoint Protection. They all use MS Access 2007 as a Front End to Sql server, linked via ODBC.

Yesterday, one of our users was getting an error from Endpoint, as follows:

[SID: 20532] MS SQL LongRequest Hello BO detected

When he got this error, he could not access data on a particular form - it was always the same form. The rest of his appilcation worked fine.

There is a Microsoft Security Bulliten at:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS02-061.mspx

This suggests that I need to download a patch, but none of the download links work.

This morning we have rebooted his PC and the problem appears to have gone away. The form works fine.

Has anybody seen this problem before, and if so how did you fix it?
Can you suggest where I can get the patch from given that the MS links don't work? Presumably I would install the patch onto the server, but would that help the client?

Thanks for any help

Colin

You can call Microsoft for the patch.

My experience with Symantec Endpoint protection has been the opposite of good.
What I do know, is all of the machines need absolute connectivity with the server, and the server needs to be configured exactly correct. Hopefully you dont need to roll back to Corporate 10.1 as did a few of my customers. Also, during my trouble shooting, disabling services and the endpoint software made no difference in the issue, It appeared, that disabled or enabled it was still killing the traffic.
