Hi! What is the easiest and best way to copy my database file in SQL Server 2000? I have done it before, but would like to copy the database file to test some software on another server? Can I just connect my laptop and save the file and then take my laptop where the other server is located. Is it possible to burn this data to a CD?

Thanks for any help!

I don't have any back up drive on the server I want to copy to. Can I connect my laptop to the network and back it up there and then transfer it?

Thanks!

You don't need a backup drive, just back it up to the local disk.

Yes you can backup to a remote host, just use a UNC path in the TO DISK portion of the BACKUP DATABASE command.
