Hello Everyone,

I wasn't able to find the answer to my question by searching the forum. I would very much appreciate if anyone would help me.

I need to install the SQL Server Workgroup trial. I wasn't able to find the workgroup trial so I was trying to install the enterprise instead. (If anyone knows how to get ahold of the workgroup trial that would be a help too)

I keep getting the following error when running the SQLEval.exe:

There is not enough space on drive C:\ to extract this package

I did an internet search on this error and it seems there is a bug that requires the amount of free space not be a multiple of 4. I currently have 13.2 GB free space and I have tried adding and removing files, to no avail. I have tried downloading the file in a few different versions in case the file was corrupted, and rebooting etc, but still I keep getting the same message. I only have one drive!!!

Can anyone help me with this?

You were able to find Enterprise edition but not Workgroup edition? What operating system are you using?

I downloaded Winzip and with it I was able to open the file and run setup.exe. Now I am getting another error. (Should I change the title of this thread?)

When I am in the features menu, any feature I select I get this message:

"No features were selected. Setup cannot proceed since no effective change is being made to the machine."

You can't install Enterprise Edition on Windows XP.

I was able to install this on Windows XP. I think that there is no Workgroup Trial, rather the trial is for Enterprise and at the time of purchase you can opt for Workgroups which is cheaper than Enterprise.

You didn't install the database engine on your XP machine. It's not possible. All you got were the client tools.

Then I must have not explained properly. I need to mimic what the clients have on their server so I can figure out on the local copy how I can make the changes on theirs.

Sorry for the confustion and thanks for responding.
