| Hello Everyone,This morning I installed a second(named) instance of SQL Server 2005 on my home pc which is running Vista. I already have a default instance of SQL Server running and wanted a second instance for training purposes. I want to do some Mirroring exercises that are in the MS Press book I have. The installation went okay and I only installed the Database Engine component and SQL Agent.Everything seems okay, the named instances(SERVER2), shows up in SSCM, and I "started" it.When I bring up SSMC, and on the Connection popup, I can select SERVER2, to connect to. I get the following error, this is the link to the explanation:TITLE: Connect to Server------------------------------Cannot connect to HP-PC\SERVER2.------------------------------ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1)For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=-1&LinkId=20476------------------------------BUTTONS:OK------------------------------I did install Service Pack 2, and I can still connect to the default instance. Any suggestions? Thanks!Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. |

| Thanks to anyone who stopped to read this question. I indeed, can connect to the second named instance. I am not 100% certain what I did, but the objective has been reached, and that is what is important....Thanks...Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. |
