well i started playing with sql server sometime in 2002... so i guess i can't really be a reference.

my first job wasn't with sql server. i was a junior VC++ developer in my college days...
changed preffered language (C# and T-SQL) and some companies since then

well you'll get by by reading and trying out stuff. also hag out here and post replies. that's the best way to learn.

would you say the MCTS cert is a well reconised by companies?

I will be starting my MCITP afterwards

that totally depends on the company. sometimes bigger companies filter applicants by certs... some don't...

well what kind of advice are you seeking exactly?
how to get a job? this is a very broad question that.
of course you have to have knowledge of the tech that you'll use in that job.
have a well written resume, etc... google probably has way more info that i could ever think of.

or do you need advice on something else? you haven't really specified what advice you're really seeking.
