Can you please explain the difference between RDBMS and DBMS?

the R is for relational. pretty much every DBMS out there today is a RDMBS. I don't know of any that aren't actually. maybe someone else does.

every DBMS needn't be RDBMS. Hyperion essbase is a DBMS,, an MDBMS.. multi dimensional DBMS.

The twelve rules....

1) A database will break at the worst possible moment.

2) A database will perform well in all of your unit tests unless this conflicts with the first law.

3) A database will protect it's data integrity unless this conflicts with the first or the second laws.
