hi all
what is the need of system databases like master,model,msdb and tempdb in sqlserver ? do these db's affect sqlserver's working in any way..?

So yes, they do affect SQL Server's working. They are necessary and you should leave them alone!

Remember SQL 2005 uses Lots of TEmpDB resources than SQL 2000.So you should put TEmpDB in Separate drive.
