Gurus

When we create a job in Sql Server 2005 we have a option in properties table, where we can setup a alert by email ,whenever a job fails.
Is this email enabled by using sql mail?Do we need to have that configured?
My requirement is that i should receive a mail wheneve my job fails

Thanks
Nitin

Better to use db mail in sql2k5, you need config db mail first.

Thanks for the reply,
did you meant that alerts will not work untill in configure DB mail in 2005?
Do we have any other option?
Thanks

Alert by mail will not work. By the way, sql mail needs pop3 mail server while db mail uses smtp mail server.
