Good morning,I'm working on training for Business Intelligence which includes SSIS, SSAS and Report Server.During installation of the evaluation software, I notice that Report Server is greyed out as a selection for installation. All other components(including DB Engine) are fine.I am using the MS Press TK-70-445, four out of the 18 chapters cover SSRS, and one of the first chapters is concerned with setting up an environment for SSRS, or something related to the component.I am training on my home PC running Vista. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. |

Did the installation give you a warning about IIS not installed?--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |

Actually I do not recall if it was a warning or not... the text indicated IIS needed to be "installed". Not sure if that is the terminology.I tried activating IIS, through the control panel, it took quite a while to run through the process(20 to 30 minutes). It came back with something like it was unable to complete the task. I ran this by one of the tech guys in the office and he highly recommended against doing this, for security reasons, this would open my PC up to attacks, virus', etc. Thanks for the reply.Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. |

Thanks for the responses. My home PC is in the HP repair center(yet again). I have also purchased a laptop and should be receiving it soon. I'll be doing all my training on the laptop since I can take it with me. I will install the SQL Server 2005 software, etc, then try to activate/install IIS on it, then come back and re-post...I appreciate the responses!Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. |

Good morning everyone,I received my PC back from the repair center last evening.I activated IIS, then installed SQL Server 2005 and associated components; and Report Services installed successfully.Following the directions in the text, in exercise #1, where Reporting Services is setup/configured, it instructs to bring up Internet Explorer, and type "http://localhost/Reports". I get a login dialog, requesting user id and password. The directions and instructions provide no indication of what needs to be entered.Anyone?Thanks.Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. |
