Possible in sql2k5 enterprise edition, but not necessary to improve performance just by partition table.

Thanks For the reply ... The database contains tables having more than 10 million records.I thought it would be helpful in increasing performance if we divide tables under different partition. Can you please tell how the partition is made???RKNAIR

No need of Partition for 10 million records. Just put right index and update stats and Maintain index .

Why do you write "No need for partition for 10 million records"?If the partitioning gains only 200 ms for each query against the table, and there's about 500,000 queries per day against this table, you will gain 27.7 CPU hours every day! E 12°55'05.25"N 56°04'39.16" |

Correct. It is good if it is growing heavily. Have you considered the administrative overhead of implementing table partitioning and associated index?

What version of SQL are you using? You can use partitioned views in 2000 and partioned tables in 2005-8. If you look up "partition" or "partitioning" in BOL that should help get you started.
