Greetings,

I have been reading that if you setup an Index on your
table and use a "Contains" function in your .net code
that it will not use the Index at all. Can anyone tell
me if this is true..

also if anyone can tell me is their a formula to apply
or use when figuring out how much memory a SQL server
might need to run at best performence. In my case
I have 1 table with about 550,000 records and that
could grow to a million in a short time.

I am looking to upgrade my server and any input would
be great.

There is no specific formula as you said. If it is high OLTP and growing huge you could have Enterprise Edition. You can enjoy Table partitioning with it.
