Woo hoo! Microsoft linked to us on their SQL Server community page. And as I write this they've already sent us 35 new visitors. We're somebody!

Does that mean we can't criticise MS anymore?

Congratulations, Graz! I know you've put hard work into building a quality site and community. It's good to get this type of recognition for a job well done.

Way to go, SQLTeam!

I also think this is warranted.
It is one of the few sites that is about teaching/learning rather than giving solutions or closed answers (apart from me.

I am still going to produce a similar site (really) but I did 4 hours work on it (schema and Sps) before I found this one and nothing since - there is cause and effect there.
But I am stopping paid work at the end of the year for at least 6 months (really, my girlfriend says, just like last time, 2 days!) to holiday (verb?), develop the site and confirm that good beer is restricted to England.

If it hadn't been for SQLteam I would have long ago been an internet billionaire like Graz.

Hmmmm . . . a beer toasting smiley. I wonder what word you could put inside of square brackets to get a toast?

Actually the congratulations go to all of you. I've been poking around some of the other sites (at least those that have forums) and I'm really happy with what we've got here. Don't get me wrong, there are some great sites out there. But I don't think their forums are as good as ours.

The largest, most regular complaint seems to be when someone else answers a question before you get a chance to post your answer. You've got to love a set of forums where people race to answer questions! And can discuss alternate solutions without resorting to flames (most of the time )

I think it's great that MS linked to all the SQL Server information sites. They are all great resources. It's good to see them acknowledge the sites.

I specifically used the word "us" in the post that started this thread. My original goal was to build a community of SQL Server people. And I'm pretty damn happy with the way it turned out. I have no idea where it will end up but it's sure been a fun ride so far.

So thanks to everyone whose name appears on the first few pages of the member list. You guys are the ones answering the questions. You guys are the ones MS linked to. I'm still just trying to get over 1000 posts so I can be Yak Master Graz or some other cool title

And speaking of 1000 posts . . . it seems everyone that has reached that mark has been given some funky title. So I decided to change the title for someone reaching 1000 posts. Hopefully someone will find out what it is soon. Oh and too many off topic posts will have your count set back SIGNIFICANTLY.

It is beer. I just discovered that the smiley code is case sensitive. So it's beer not BEER. (Although BEER is usually more appropriate). The new non-case sensitive, beer aware smiley enhancement has been copied up to the server. It should function once the cache is cleared. Until then you're limited to lower case beer!

This is one of my daily (hourly?) must visit sites and it is great to see MS recognise it (although I had trouble accessing the site this (UK) AM and was wondering if it was due to assimilation by the Beast!)

so, how many bottles in that case then?

I'm working my way there as quickly as I can without inciting the wrath of the post-counter. But in the meantime, what was the OLD 1000 post title?

Is that "Fu" or "FU"? What does it mean? And what on earth is a drop bear?

Don't pay attention to the disclaimer, they exist and are really dangerous!
