Dear All,
we need to reverse two servers primary as secondary and secondary as primary. actually we are upgrading the servers from 2000 to 2005.

Now my Issue relates to the downtime. actualy i can backup and restore the latest backups and that works for me but it expects around 1 hour downtime. I'd like to change the production server from one server to another server without downtime. i'm interested in doing mirroring or logshipping with your kind advice.

my doubt is should i change the configuration file at all clinets
(30 clients) by changing the latest IP address? and this is a 24X 7 and they will not accept much downtime.

my motto is to change to production server with logshipping or mirroring.

please guide me in this regard

You can't easily do with Log shipping or Database Mirroring. You shouldn't do with them. Use Backup/Restore strategy. Apply Full backup and apply them to Secondary server in NORECOVERY mode and keep applying log backup to secondary server till you are ready to switch. Lastly, apply transactional log backup in RECOVERY mode to sec server. There are lots of posts regarding this. Search it.
