I want to know the major limitations of MSDE 2000 w.r.t SQL SERVER 2000.i have a cooperate database application running on SQL SERVER 2000.Can I use MSDE instead of complete SQL SERVER 2000 to support this database application.

Depends on the features you want to use. MSDE is a lightweight db which has now been replaced by the MS SQL express versions

The 2GB limitation on MSDE/Sql express is not designed to run major cooperate apps.

Use SQL Express, there is really no reason to use MSDE that I can think of instead of SQL Express. This entire website -- sqlteam.com -- runs on SQL Express.
