| Hi all,I have a problem wile restoring my database backup.Backupfile is 20GB.but i have only 6GB space on my windows drive.can i split the data file to more drive, can i provide any such option while restoring the database...?I even don't know how many datafile the backup contain ..Please help. |

| You should have done it while backup. Spread files across different drive and copy it across drive and restore all together.But 6GB is too less. You should increase you space. |

| Can you give some details about any other drives you have (size etc) and is the backup file on same drive as datafiles? If you have access to another drive or even a remote drive on a server you can move the backup file to this location (and so free space) and then restore from backup from new location.The last time I did this was on SQL Server 2000 where wizard did not allow restore from remote drive but you can do it directly in SQL assuming you set up mapping and permissions etc to remote drive. |
