Hello,
I tried adding

grant exec sp_sendMailMessage to public;
go

but i get an error

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1
Incorrect syntax near 'sp_sendMailMessage'.

Where is the ON keyword?
grant exec on sp_sendMailMessage to public;

Took me about 10 seconds to find out with Books Online.

Type GRANT in query window : 2 seconds
hightlight the text and press shift f1 : 1 second
wait for books online to start : 2 seconds
read the text : 5 seconds

you could have saved .5 seconds here, you don't need to highlight.
