Hi,

I'm in desperate need of some HD space on my sql server, I just moved out a few TRC "SQL SERVER Profiler -trace data files"

Didnt fully think it thru, and realized this may cause a problem.

No problems yet, but I had an error when moving the 4th of 4 files, saying in use. I was thinking these were trace files I previously created.

Should I move these files back immediately ?

Any help much appreciated !

thanks,
mike123

SQL Server constantly runs a thin trace. You shouldn't touch these.

I already moved 3 files... Should I move them back ? It seems like they are regenerating .........

I definately won't attempt this again :)

Much appreciated...

I don't know, but I wouldn't take the risk. Aren't the files tiny anyway?

Hi Tara,

Yes they are about 30mb each. I haven't moved them back and everything seems ok. I did all this for 90mb space =
So far everything seems ok, and I guess it will stay that way? Glad it at least seems I didnt break anything.

Thanks,
