Hello everyone.

Hopefully, I have two quick and easy questions for you.

First: I have SQL Server Management console on my PC installed and was registering all my servers. Interesting thing I noticed is that when I register a SQL Server, next to the server name I have a Green icon with a little white arrow in it and some white circles next to the others.
That make sense? Need a screenshot perhaps?

What does that mean?

Secondly, security and account.
We want to use a specific account to connect to all of our SQL Server's (only about 7 servers so far). We would like to do this through Active Directory and Windows Authentication.

Is there a way, when I am registering my SQL Servers through my management console, to specify a different windows authentication user, instead of my credentials? Or is that not possible? Or what is best practices?

Thanks,

Jason

It just means that it was able to determine the status of the service. If you don't see red or green, then it couldn't determine it due to permissions, network issues, ...

You could try the Run As option by right clicking on SSMS before you launch it.
