Anyone has any suggestions on what is a good tool to use for backing up your Sharepoint & SQL databases

What's wrong with the native tools? From a DB perspective that, or various third-party tools (LiteSpeed, Redgate, etc.) would be best. From an application perspective, whatever you currently use to backup the OS would work fine.

Our organization uses Recovery Manager for Sharepoint, Quest Software, to manage recoveries for Sharepoint sites. This product does use a LiteSpeed plug-in to read and pull data from our backups. It's really pretty neat in the fact that you don't have to perform a database restore (even to a temporary database) just to pull out some data. When it comes to the actual database backups, we use our own home grown process for backing up our databases.
