i have a very general question....
how do people manage large datbases in sql server 2005...
what are the best practises one should follow during all the processing????

Make BackUp of databases as a habit.,...
mean its necessary to take BackUp of your databases.... regularly,,,,,,,
make proper indexes on Tables and all,,,,,

and other there are to many experts to guide you here....
they guide u in very good way as u want,,,

sir best practices regarding fast execution of queries and handling large database in evrey respect...i wonder how these big websites handle the data and yet execution time is so less.....
i was goin through some articles about this,,,main points given were to make use of indexes,table partitioning....
i went through table partitioning articles n read about partiotioning keys,schemeas anf partition functions....the problem is that i am unable to fully understand all matter given...
do guide....

Have you tried implementing them? Maintenance of index,processors,Memory,disk systems and other things play major role in it.
