I need to practice in SSRS at home. I have a trial of SQL Server 2008 running nicely. I have some reasonable data which I have set up great Crystal Reports - I'm a guru here.Using SSRS is an absolute knightmare compared to Crystal In the config, why are there 2 webpages? Why isn't there just one? What is the function of it? The main problem is that when I set up everything it had to be username/password and I don't know what this ID is with SQL Server. It's a home machine - no domain - whatever you call it...When I open this webpage (which I've used plenty in an office) I'm asked for username/password. How can I give that if I don't know it? It was just a bunch of dots |

What operating system are you using this on? If it is Vista Home it won't work properly. The two websites are there for a reason, one is what the users would see, the other is an admin view, so you can see all reports and add objects/users etc..SQL reporting wasn't exactly designed for home/non-domain use.. |

It's XP Pro, with IISEverything is just fine with Crystal ReportsThe Reporting Database is up and running as default. I've used SSRS for 3 months and that was all. Since then I've not succeeded in getting a home instance going. Once I can get SSRS up to scratch with the Crystal gauges and daschboards and all kinds, then I'll be comfortable for my next contract project - there's loads out there.I'm OK with Visual Studio. I want to practice with Report Builder, or whatever it's called. I want to get going with the Report Manager (ugh!) - then I can get moving after that... Thanks Rick! |

The config window shows the Report Manager URL and the Web Service URL as set up. When I click either of these, I get a login window. I have no idea what to put into this window. When setting up this login (I did it many times), trying to set a username/password but I had to use a given domain and login - everything else was invalid. But when I plucked an existing login, I didn't see what the login was, so I can't put this into the window now. What can I do? I've tried over and over to reset to a login and can just punch in. AD forces me to use a login I don't know! What is this? Space Odessey. There must be a simple way to reset this to what I want it to be? How do I get round home/non-domain use? I'm happy to use whatever is required. |
