I want to setup a linked server between an sql server on the "inside"network and a SQL Express db on our web server which is on the other side of the fire wall. My network admin is concerned about someone outside the firewall being able to "tunnel in" to our secured SQL server 2005 inside the firewall through this linked server. The linked server would only be configured on the "inside" SQL server 2005.

The network admin should configure the firewall hole for a specific MAC address or IP address then. The firewall hole should not just be opened to everyone!
