I want to host a ecommerce site.SQL standard editioin is costlier than SQL Workgroup edition Which SQL Server edition is best for an ecommerce?

It depends on your throughput and the functionality you need.

How many transactions will you be serving 100/s? 1000/s? 10000/s?
Do you need high reliability and availability?
Security?
