Hi

I need to restore a single database table from a backup file (*.bak), is this possible? And if so, how do I do that?

Restore as different database name, then merge the new table with old table.
And vote for madhi's request for restoring single tables on connect.microsoft.com

Actually this feature was available in SQL Server 6.5. I think they removed it because of possibility redundant data that can exist after you restore the table.
