How would I populate a table in database1, with data from a table in database2. The tables are identical in structure.

Or ..
How could I duplicate an entire database, preserving data, primary and foreign key structures, views, as well as stored procedures?

Backup the database and then restore to it as a new database.

Check out BOL on BACKUP DATABASE and RESTORE DATABASE
