is your DB in full recovery model? try to backup the log first before you shrink it. But why you want to shrink it anyway?

Even i have the same problem. I have taken the Log backup , but how do i reduce my log file size.

1. Shrinking is one option, but i get error like "cannot shrink logical files are in use"
2. By changing the recovery mode from full to simple, i am able to shrink the file and then change it back to full, but i feel that it is not a good practice to change the recovery mode and it will be a problem at the time of restore activity.

Is there anyone who could suggest me with ideas or steps to reduce the log file size?

Regards,
Pradeep...
