Hi all, This is an odd question, but I am stumped and thought I would go to the experts. Due to our version control setup, our SQL scripts are broken down into *.ddl and *.dml files. During a lengthy implementation, I got tired of cutting and pasting the code into the query windows and just associated the 2 extensions to open the Management Studio. But the weird thing is that they open, but I cannot find anyway to get them connected to my instance. They just open in a new query window with no connection options anywhere! I clicked and right clicked all around…looked in the menus… If I change their extensions to *.sql, they open right up with the “Connect to a Database Engine” window! It is Friday afternoon though…maybe I’m blind…or asking too much! Thanks for your help!! |

Just an idea:name the files *.ddl.sql and *.dml.sql No, you're never too old to Yak'n'Roll if you're too young to die. |

files other than .sql are categorized as Miscellaneous, thus if it is not an sql file you can't execute it hence no connection info..webfred provided a good solution... |
