Hope you guys can help. The task sound pretty simple. We would like to create a User Information repository on our main SQL server and use it to control rights and access to databases located on other sql servers. My questions are:Can sombody point us to a third party application or plugin that can help with the task?OrCan somebody point out what is wrong with this idea from a security stand point so I can relay that to my boss. Seriously... Having one server control rights to another is new for me so any information would be truly helpful. |

you should create groups in active directory and give the appropriate AD groups access on a server by server basis.couple things wrong...if someone gains access to the main server, they can do anything they want on all of 'em. also, what happens if main server becomes unavailable? no one can access any server?have a look here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/5/e/85eea4fa-b3bb-4426-97d0-7f7151b2011c/SQL2005SecBestPract.doc |
