Are .ldf files optional or mandatory for SQL Server Databases? In case if it is optional, what is the difference between DBs with ldf and without ldfs.

Thanks in Advance!!

The ldfs are the transaction logs, they are an essential part of the database and are what SQL uses to ensure consistency of the databases at all times, no matter what happens. They are also used for transaction rollbacks.
