Hi,What is the relation between Transaction Log and .ldf file?When I backup the Transaction Log, the size of the .ldf file remains the same, shouldn't it lower the size the of .ldf fileThanks |

you got to shrink it, if you want it to get smaller. shrink it. |

Don't ever shrink the log file unless you really need to. Are you having any performance issues? |

Under Full Recovery Model, Virtual inactive log space can be freed by transaction log backup but can't free active virtual space.Under Simple Recovery model, log space is freed as soon as Checkpoint occurs.There are numerous articles regarding managing log space here.please search for it. |
